Apartment complex on Parkway suddenly goes dark

Residents of the Park Towne Place apartments on the Ben Franklin Parkway have reported that they lost power overnight.

The management of the high-rise complex on the 2200 block of the parkway could be reached this morning for comment.

The complex is owned by Aimco, which has a national portfolio of apartments. It is managed by OP Property Management, a subsidiary of Aimco.

However, Liz Williamson, a PECO spokeswoman, said the problem does not appear to stem from the company's equipment.

"We sent a crew out overnight to investigate the outage and we believe it's related to customer equipment," Williams said, referring to Park Towne Place. "We are sending a foreman out to contact, and speak to the customer about the outage and reaffirm that it's a customer equipment."

Williamson said PECO checked its own equipment first, but did not spot any issues.

Residents say they are concerned about the outage, especially with temperatures expected to climb into the 90s today.
