N.E. man charged after pedestrian is hit

A 21-year-old Northeast Philadelphia man has been arrested and charged with driving under the influence after allegedly hitting and critically injuring a Temple University student crossing North Broad Street near the campus Sunday night.

Ivan Pauline of the 2900 block of Welsh Road also has been charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, and reckless endangerment, police said. The pedestrian was reported in critical condition at Hahnemann University Hospital. Her name was not released. - Inquirer staff
