If you're thinking of putting nutmeg in your seasonal eggnog, you should check the container first.

Nonorganic nutmeg sold under the Frontier Bulk and Whole Foods Market brands is being recalled voluntarily because it has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella, the Food and Drug Administration says.

No illnesses have been associated with the nutmeg, which was supplied by Mincing Overseas Spice Co., of South Brunswick, N.J., the FDA said.

The recalled products were sold in all 50 states and in some parts of Canada.

Affected are:

Frontier Bulk Nutmeg Ground, 16 oz., UPC code 0-89836-00165-8, Lot code 0306.

Whole Foods 365 Nutmeg Ground, 1.92 oz., UPC code 0-99482-41931-8, Lot code 0321.

Bulk purchasers should contact Frontier with any questions or to inquire about replacement or reimbursement at 1-800-669-3275, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.

If you have a Whole Foods item, contact your local store.
