Man, 21, killed on Market-Frankford Line

A train on the Market Frankford Line struck and killed an unidentified man shortly after 1 p.m. today in University City.

A train on the Market Frankford Line struck and killed an unidentified man shortly after 1 p.m. today in University City.

Service on the El was temporarily suspended between 15th and 40th Streets as police and SEPTA officials investigated, said SEPTA spokesman Andrew Busch.

Rail service resumed about 2 p.m. but trains were not stopping at 34th Street.

The victim, a possible suicide, was described as 21-years-old. Busch had no further details.

Shuttle buses were called to transport passengers from City Hall to 40th Street, he said.
