WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - New Jersey's tough-talking Gov. Christie urged Pennsylvanians to elect fellow Republican Tom Corbett as their chief executive so the states can attack excessive government spending together.

Christie appeared before about 100 people Monday at a rally at the Lycoming County GOP headquarters.

Christie boasted about his refusal to increase taxes in New Jersey and urged his solidly Republican audience to take advantage of "desperation in the Democratic Party" this election year.

Corbett, Pennsylvania's attorney general, said he looked forward to working with Christie to change the government culture.

Most polls show Corbett leading Democratic rival Dan Onorato, the elected executive of Allegheny County.
