Bensalem Township police were seeking the public's help last night in their investigation of an early-morning shooting that critically wounded a 23-year-old man as a party was ending.

Anchul Rastogi of Bensalem was shot about 3:45 a.m. in a home in the 300 block of Palton Road and taken to Aria Health-Torresdale Campus, police said. He was in critical condition in the intensive-care unit, a nursing supervisor said.

Police, who provided only sparse details, said that the guests had been invited through a "social network" but that the party evidently had gotten out of hand in a dispute over a stolen phone.

During the quarrel, an unidentified man pulled out a handgun and fired several shots, police said.

According to 6ABC, the invitations had been sent out by the homeowners' son, who had just returned from military duty in Iraq and was hosting a welcome-home party.

On its Web site, the Bensalem Police Department posted photographs of people it said may have been with the assailant, and it asked for help in identifying them. Anyone with information is asked to call 215-633-3660.
