Area transportation projects to get $668 mil in stimulus

Transportation projects in the Philadelphia-South Jersey region will get about $668 million from the federal stimulus package, under a plan approved today by the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission.

The pot will be divided like this:

SEPTA - $200.4 million

Southeastern Pennsylvania highways - $257.8 million

South Jersey highways - $132.8 million

NJ Transit (South Jersey) - $63.3 million

DRPA/PATCO - $12.0 million

Valley Forge Park roads - $1.4 million

Among the biggest expenditures will be $66 million for repairs to the Girard Point Bridge, $36.7 million to refurbish Broad Street subway stations at Spring Garden Street and Girard Avenue, $84 million to repair I-295 in Camden and Gloucester counties, and $28 million for a new rail-passenger transfer station in Pennsauken.
