A South Jersey teacher's aide was arrested last night and charged with sexually assaulting a student, authorities said.

A South Jersey teacher's aide was arrested last night and charged with sexually assaulting a student, authorities said.

Donna Goebel, 43, was taken into custody at her Westampton, Burlington County, home.

Goebel's husband called police Jan. 24 after he found evidence that led him to suspect she was having "inappropriate relations" with a student.

The student attended the school where Goebel worked.

The Burlington County Prosecutor's Office said that, in order to maintain the anonymity of the victim, it would not release the name of the school or the victim's sex, age, and hometown. None of the assaults occurred on school property, authorities said.

Goebel, who is being held on $75,000 bail at a minimum-security women's facility in Pemberton Township, is scheduled for her first court appearance today in State Superior Court in Burlington County.

As a condition of bail, she is is barred from having any contact with a child.

If convicted, Goebel faces up to 10 years in state prison.
