Police: Slaying was 'brutal' and 'personal'

A 19-year-old man who was found dead at a construction site in Northeast Philadelphia Monday morning had been shot as many as 12 times in the face in what the Homicide Unit commander called a "very personal" killing.

Capt. James Clark said the victim, Daquan Crump, had never been in trouble, leaving investigators baffled as to why he was killed.

A worker found the body about 7:20 a.m. at a construction site on the the 10000 block of Northeast Avenue in the Bustleton section, police said.

Calling the slaying both "very brutal" and "very personal," Clark said Crump has been shot 10 to 12 times in the face.

He was last seen alive 11 p.m. Saturday leaving his job at a nearby Wendy's restaurant, Clark said. Crump was brought to the work site about 5:30 p.m. Monday and shot then.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Homicide Unit at 215-686-3334.
