Student Fashion Showcase

Moore College of Art & Design

According to student designers at Moore College of Art & Design, maxi-lengths are major. Need evidence? Saturday night's runway under a billowing tent at 20th Street and the Parkway teemed with tulle and tiers. The floaty fabrics made for a cool, floor-grazing evening.

The night started with bathing suits, most of which were complemented with long, flowing cover-ups. Children's wear featured rivers of ruffles (some of the ruffles appeared bigger than the tots who teetered down the runway). And the show ended with menswear items that were much more futuristic than wearable.

However, it was the senior collections that were the most amazing. Bianca Jones' grouping featured exposed zippers, making the provocative accessory surprisingly wearable. Jennifer Vitale created colorful outfits that would look at home in an Anthropologie catalog. Sulki Kwon did amazing things with patchwork patterns, and Katherine Satterfield, who won the Critic's Award for sportswear, did a good job mixing classy and flowing. But I'd be remiss if I didn't mention Rebecca Heaps' line, a grouping of plaid golf wear with a neon twist. Nice.
