Stars take the plunge

More than Chopard jewels and wavy blow-outs, fresh-faced makeup and sweetheart necklines, peplums and optic white, it was spicy deep décolletages that ruled the 2015 Academy Award red carpet Sunday night.

The deep V was scrumptious.

Designer Francisco Costa fashioned 6,000 pearls into an amazing halter for the Calvin Klein halteresque gown worn by Lupita Nyong'o, who always steals the spotlight on the red carpet. Margot Robbie debuted a new lob haircut while seducing in a black Saint Laurent.

Jennifer Lopez must have received my memo that America was tired of seeing her in Zuhair Murad sheaths, so the red-carpet beauty brought the fire in a seriously plunged flesh-toned Elie Saab.

Chrissy Teigen, however, did Murad justice in a slate-gray gown - Did you see that slit? - when she appeared with her perfect partner, University of Pennsylvania graduate (and Oscar winner for best song) John Legend.

Deep Vs reigned Sunday night, yes. But they weren't the only stunning look. Zoe Saldana was breathtaking in a spaghetti-strap, blush Atelier Versace. And although Marion Cotillard's dropped-waist Dior Couture swallowed her, she pulled off an interestingly splendid look.

David Oyelowo and his marsala Dolce & Gabbana tux took honors for best-dressed dude of the night. Although Common, a cowinner for best song, was a close second in his smoky gray Prada. That was a good look.
