Globes red carpet: Refreshingly modern
There were midriffs and cutouts. Jumpsuits and tea-length dresses. Shades of navy and long sleeves. Of course, there were a few sweetheart necklines and the obligatory ballgowns.

But for the most part, celebrities on Sunday night's Golden Globes red carpet let stylists experiment with new silhouettes. And the result - the offical beginning of the 2015 red carpet season was refreshingly modern.
It's hard to pick a favorite, but among the best- dressed of the night was Julianne Moore in a nearly blinding silver Givenchy. The slightly mermaid feathered bottom was nothing short of amazing. Allison Williams' red hand-detailed Armani Prive was just stunning.
Model Chrissy Teigen arrived on hubby and University of Pennsylvania alumnus John Legend's arm in a soft pink, long- sleeved Zuhair Murad gown. The deep V back was beyond fabulous.
There wasn't celebrity who came close to the tailored chicness singer Lorde exuded in her custom Narsciso Rodriguez belly-baring pantsuit. It made me think really hard about investing in a woman's tux. Felicity Jones wowed in her forest green, short-sleeved yet perfectly structured Christian Dior. Red-carpet hosts compared Jones' sartorial choices to last year's red- carpet darling Lupita Nyong'o. But when Nyong'o cooly appeared in a somewhat tie-dyed lavender Giambattista Valli, it was clear that Nyong'o is still the queen of red carpet fashion.
Other noteworthy gowns included Katherine Heigel's amazingly figure-flattering Zac Posen and the Mary Katrazanou worn by Kerry Washington, who took a chance in her color-blocked, slightly longer than tea-length frock.
And Philadelphia-born Kevin Hart gets an honorable mention for donning a sharper-than-sharp tuxedo blazer with black trim. Talk about a good look.
