Center City stores to be part of Vogue fashion event

Center City specialty stores will participate in the Vogue magazine-sanctioned Fashion's Night Out Sept. 6, Mayor Nutter announced Wednesday.

Dozens of stores including Anthropologie, Macy's, BCBG, Joan Shepp, Nicole Miller, and Aoki will host cocktail parties, hand out gift bags, and hold sales from 6 to 11 p.m.

Philadelphia will join 250 cities in 18 countries to host the shopping event, created four years ago by editor Anna Wintour to inject energy into the retail economy.

Fashion's Night Out, which also will take place at the King of Prussia mall, will act as the preview event for the third annual Philadelphia Collection, a week of cocktail parties, sales, and fashion seminars at boutiques sponsored by the city and Center City District from Sept. 13 to 20.
