Roku players. It's not cool to talk about cutting cable if you live in Kabletown. (Thank you, 30 Rock.) But if you don't need access to Spike TV and want to save a little something for presents, a Roku player is the way to go. The California-based company sells three players that range from $59.99 to $99.99, capable of streaming high-definition programs such as Netflix, Amazon Video on Demand, Hulu Plus (coming soon), and MLB over your broadband connection. To get a high-def signal, pick up an HDMI cable for about $10, plug it in, and follow the on-screen instructions, written in plain English. (www.roku.com/)
