Monday's Child: Zyann, 16, is 'unique'

Zyann, who prefers to be called Unique, is friendly, happy and outgoing, although she can be a bit shy when meeting new people. The 16-year-old is thinking about a career but isn't quite sure yet what it will be. Possibilities include working with babies, perhaps in a day care. She loves listening to music, singing, dancing, and spending time with her friends.

She loves listening to music, singing, dancing, and spending time with her friends.

In the ninth grade, Zyann enjoys going to school, where she benefits from special-education services. Geography is her favorite class. She is very proud of the academic achievement award she received last year.

If Zyann could take a trip anywhere, it would be to Orlando to visit Disney World. A perfect day for her would include sleeping in, relaxing, and visiting an amusement park. In her foster home, Zyann cheerfully cleans her room and assists with dish-washing. She also spends many happy hours taking care of the dogs in the home.

Zyann has experienced many separations and losses and yearns to have a permanent home. "I want a family that will love me and take care of me," she says. Zyann is close to her sister, who has been adopted, and it is important that they remain in touch.

Zyann and other children are available for adoption. For information, contact Jason Monn at the National Adoption Center.
