EWING, N.J. - Police are investigating a report of a shooting early Sunday morning on the campus of the College of New Jersey.

Police received a 911 call shortly after 6 a.m. reporting a shooting at Travers Hall, and emails were sent to students asking them to remain in their locations while the investigation continued.

Later, emails were sent and a message was posted on the school's Web site notifying students they could move about the campus but said security checkpoints had been set up.

As of late morning, investigators were unable to confirm a shooting had taken place, said Matthew Golden, the school's director of communications.

"Other than the 911 call, we have no evidence that I know of that a shooting actually occurred," Golden said.
