Cops bring out Taser in SJ barroom brawl

A donnybrook at Skeeter's Bar & Grill in Gloucester Township grew out of hand Sunday night as police saying they were forced to bring out a Taser to calm one brawler who refused to stop.

According to local police, they were called at 10:50 p.m. to the bar on Coles Road in the township's Blackwood section after a report of a large fight. They arrived to find that the fight had spilled outside into the parking lot.

Police say Michael Mcerlain, 36, continued to be belligerent toward police and resisted arrest. Mcerlain then grabbed one officer and began fighting with him, police say.

At that point, another officer pulled at a Taser and emitted a warning spark, which prompted Mcerlain to stop.

Mcerlain, of Silver Birch Road, Washington Township, was taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault on a police officer and resisting arrest. He was released pending a municipal court hearing.
