Suit: Cole Hamels, wife stiffed at Victoria's Secret fashion show

After being turned away from last year's Victoria's Secret fashion show, former Phillies pitching ace Cole Hamels and his wife have sued a London-based concierge service they paid to provide them with tickets.

In a lawsuit filed Friday in Common Pleas Court, the couple alleges that Cornucopia Events promised them a full VIP package, with perks including tickets to the November show in New York City, a four-night stay in a luxury hotel, a limousine stocked with champagne, and access to exclusive restaurants and "goodie bags."

But after paying just shy of $70,000 for three tickets, the lawsuit claims, the couple were denied entrance. Their lawsuit seeks more than $150,000 in damages from the company for fraud and misrepresentation.

"Unbeknownst to the Hamels at the time, the Cornucopia defendants were misrepresenting their intention and/or ability to deliver the VIP package option the Hamels sought," their lawyer, Joshua C. Quinter, wrote in court filings last week.

Neither Quinter nor representatives of Cornucopia returned calls for comment Tuesday. The company's website describes the firm as a concierge service "tailored to the needs of the fun and fashionable."

"We pride ourselves on opening doors to the world's most exclusive venues and filling them with fabulous people," it states.

According to the suit, the pitcher and his wife, former reality TV star Heidi Strobel, were instructed to show up the day of the fashion show to collect their tickets, but were not to tell anyone how they got them.

Hamels, 32, signed a six-year, $144 million contract extension with the Phillies in 2012, and was traded to the Texas Rangers last July. He has a base salary of $22.5 million for the 2016 season.

A hearing date has not been set.
