2 cops, 10 inmates injured in van-bus crash

Two police officers and 10 inmates were hospitalized and traffic snarled after a police-transport van and a school bus collided on the Vine Expressway during yesterday's morning rush hour.

No children were on the school bus at the time of the 7 a.m. accident on the highway's westbound lanes near 24th Street, police said.

The officers and five inmates were treated at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania for unspecified complaints of pain, while five other inmates were treated at Hahnemann University Hospital, police said.

The cause of the collision was under investigation.
