An Amtrak train traveling at 125 m.p.h. struck and killed a man walking across the tracks last night in Bristol Township, Bucks County.

Amtrak's train 653, the Keystone, left New York City at 5:10 p.m. and was scheduled to pull into 30th Street Station at 6:42, an Amtrak spokeswoman said. The train didn't arrive until after 11 p.m.

A man left a bar on Route 13 in Croyden shortly after 6:25 p.m. and wandered onto the tracks. Three minutes later, the southbound Keystone barrelled down the rails.

The man, who has not been named by authorities, was killed instantly.

There were no injuries to the train's crew or it's 140 passengers. Dozens of passengers got off the train at Croyden, and several hailed cabs to complete their journey, the spokeswoman said.

Bristol Fire Department officials closed all four tracks. Northbound service resumed at 7:30. Southbound traffic was restored about 9:30 p.m.

Amtrak police are investigating. An autopsy on the man was scheduled for this afternoon, the spokeswoman said.
