Snow?! Weekend looks wintry

A chilly spell is one thing.

A chilly spell is one thing.

It's not too surprising that a freeze warning was in effect this morning for South Jersey, Delaware and Maryland.

But snow?

More than two weeks into spring?

Yes, white stuff is in the forecast for three mornings in a row.

Today, Bucks, Montgomery and Mercer Counties, and areas farther north, could see "scattered flurries before noon," according to the forecast from the National Weather Service in Mount Holly.

The rest of the region will get into the act after midnight tonight with snow showers, not just flurries, possible.

"New snow accumulation of less than a half-inch possible," according to the weather service forecast for the city.

Sunday could bring more morning flurries.

On both days, though, light rain is likely to join the mix.

We could, of course, be grateful for being spared the fate of parts of Upstate New York and New England, where a spring storm dropped more than a foot of snow, closing schools, tying up traffic, and knocking out power.

When will warmer weather return?

You can store those shorts and T-shirts at least another week.

After another freeze watch tonight, the predicted highs just begrudgingly improve: Sunday 48, Monday 50, Tuesday 53, Wednesday 56, Thursday 57.
