Rothman 8k winners return a day later to win Philadelphia Half Marathon

Different day. Another race. Same results. The theme of Sunday's Philadelphia Half Marathon was, "This is a recording." That's because the winners of Saturday's Rothman 8K also captured the titles in the Half Marathon. The men's half marathon winner was Isaac Korir Kedikou, who won in 1 hour, 2 minutes, 52 seconds.

Different day. Another race. Same results.

The theme of Sunday's Philadelphia Half Marathon was, "This is a recording."

That's because the winners of Saturday's Rothman 8K also captured the titles in the Half Marathon. The men's half marathon winner was Isaac Korir Kedikou, who won in 1 hour, 2 minutes, 52 seconds.

And to take the recording theme a step further, Samuel Ndereba, who placed second in Saturday's 8k, was also runner-up in the half marathon in 1:03:42.

"I was tired after running Saturday, but my recovery was good," Korir Kedikou said through an interpreter. "After Saturday's race, I had good rest and a good massage."

And he ran a pair of good races, his first in the United States for the 25-year-old Kenyan.

"I liked it here," he said.

Ndereba is more familiar with the area. On Nov. 4, he won the Cooper Norcross Run the Bridge 10k that ended at Camden's Campbell's Field.

"This was his day today," Ndereba said of Korir Kedikou. "I have to give him credit."

The women's winner was Misikir Mekonnin Demssie of Ethiopia. Her winning time of 1:11:56 beat second-place finisher Hellen Jemutai, who finished in 1:12:37.

On Saturday, Mekonnin Demssie won the 8K in 25:46.

"It was a little cold today but wasn't too bad," she said. "This was a nice course to run."
