Tria Wine Room is closing
The University City wine bar's last day will be May 17.
Tria Wine Room, which opened as Biba in October 2010 at University City's Left Bank at 3131 Walnut St., is closing.
Its last day will be this Friday, May 17.
The Tria wine bars at 12th and Spruce and 18th and Sansom are unaffected.
In a statement, owner Jon Myerow said he thought that Tria Wine Room is a pretty cool place, "and so do a number of loyal, wonderful guests. Alas, that number is too small to make Tria Wine Room a viable business."
The notion of Tria Wine Room's closing came to light three months ago when state records showed that the boîte's liquor license was being transferred to 2005 Walnut St., a project from Myerow and partners.
Tria Taproom, focusing on pizza and beer, is on track for a summer opening.
