Truck Stop: Mucho Bueno

Mexican BBQ is on the menu (and on tacos, sandwiches and salads) at roving Philly food truck Mucho Bueno.

Overview: There are five main categories at this Mexican BBQ truck: tacos, sandwiches, taco salad, tortilla chips and dessert. We tackled as much as we could in one sitting at the Navy Yard. Mucho Bueno prides itself on using locally sourced ingredients. Small carbon footprint, helps the local economy, all that stuff. Sounds good to us.

Tacos and salad: The tacos (1 for $4, 2 for $7, 3 for $10) include smoked pulled pork, brisket and chicken, and organic sweet potato. All are served with homemade salsa, pickled onions and aji sour cream on a soft corn tortilla. They were tasty. The taco salad ($8) is made with organic spring mix, meat or sweet potato, Lancaster cheddar and the other classic taco ingredients.

Sandwiches: Go with a sandwich ($8) with any of the three meats above and Bill's Best organic BBQ sauce and coleslaw on a Kaiser roll. If you're really hungry, order the Jumpoff ($10), with smoked chicken, melted cheddar, bacon, BBQ sauce, pickled onions and spring mix on a Kaiser roll, or the Big Slow ($10), with smoked brisket, melted cheddar, fresh guacamole, crushed tortilla chips, pickled onions and aji sour cream on a Kaiser roll.

Others: tortilla chips and salsa ($3). Add guacamole for $1. The dessert when we went was gooey caramel bars ($2).

Where from: If you're into keeping it local, take a look at the map the Mucho Bueno truck has that shows where its food originates: meat from farms in Stroudsburg, BBQ sauce made in Chestnut Hill, tortillas from South Philly, vegetables from local farms and cheese from Lancaster County.

Where to find them: 38th Street at Penn, LOVE Park, the Navy Yard and anywhere else their green truck takes them.
