Firefly lineup announced; Kings of Leon, The Killers headlining

While it might not seem like it, festival season is fast approaching. Following the lineup announcements of Coachella, Bonnaroo, Governors Ball and Hangout Fest, Dover, Del.'s Firefly Music Festival has a roster of artists prepped to play The Woodlands of Dover International Raceway for 2015's festival: Thursday, June 18 through Sunday, June 21.

According to the lineup video, over additional 75 artists will be included, including the final headliner.

The festival previously announced Spoon, Run the Jewels, Empire of the Sun, Bastille and Elliphant were slated to perform. The initial performer rollout came during a free preview concert at the Trocadero last month in which confirmed performers Cheerleader and Chiddy Bang headlined.

The lineup comes after what seems like a slight delay, with organizers frequently keeping fans waiting with apologetic blog posts, citing talent scheduling issues in securing the lineup.

This is the first year that Red Frog Events, the promotions group that organizes Firefly, has teamed up with Goldenvoice, the producers of Coachella. Goldenvoice also struck a deal with the Hangout Music Fest in Gulf Shores, Ala.

Also new for Firefly this year is the construction of permanent stages, designed specifically for the event.
