Sideshow: Katy Perry prayed, and she was answered

Do you pray? The teenage Katy Perry sure did . Her sincerest heaven-bound supplications concerned her anatomy.

"I lay on my back one night and looked down at my feet, and I prayed to God," Perry, 29, tells GQ.

"I said, 'God, will you please let me have boobs so big that I can't see my feet when I'm lying down?' " Someone listened: Perry's bust is an object of admiration around the globe. So much so, young women often ask plastic surgeons to give 'em Perry breasts.

For her part, Perry insists her magnificent corporeality is all natural.

"I've never had any plastic surgery," she tells GQ. "So my messages of self-empowerment are truly coming from an au naturel product."

Perry also shares of her love life in the GQ chat, dropping pearls of wisdom about her on-off-on-again romance with John Mayer. Last time they broke up, Perry wrote "Unconditionally," an uncompromising tune about a woman's geishalike determination to love a dude no matter what.

"I was thinking about unconditional love, and I was thinking: Geishas are basically, like, the masters of loving unconditionally."

In an authorial aside, the GQ reporter notes that the "courtesan-patron relationship is, um, maybe the most conditional relationship there is."

Alison Sweeney, 37, who has played the belovedly manipulative Sami Brady on NBC's Days of Our Lives since she was 16, is leaving the show. She dropped the bombshell Tuesday during a chat on Ellen DeGeneres' show.

"I've been on Days of Our Lives for 21 years," she said. "And I decided that it's going to be my last year." What gives?

"I just have, you know, worked so much and my daughter [Megan] just turned 5 and my son [Benjamin] is 9 and I just want to be with them." What should the writers do with Sami? "Sami probably deserves some sort of very twisted, like, Breaking Bad ending," Sweeney said.

Zac Efron has learned much about life, he told People mag on Tuesday, almost exactly five months after news broke that five months earlier he had completed a rehab stint for a reported drug problem. "I'm so happy. I feel like I'm in a great place and I'm glad that I'm really here to share this moment with everybody and be present for all of it," Zac, 26, said at a news confab for his new movie, the raunchy rom-com That Awkward Moment. Cool.

Fran Drescher in 2012 said (in jest?) that she was abducted by them. Dan Aykroyd once told Larry King that humans had done such a rotten job of keeping the peace that aliens wouldn't want to know us.

Tom Cruise summed up the argument in '07: "Are you really so arrogant as to believe we are alone in this universe? . . . We just don't know."
