My passion is a paper crane, by Nicole Distasio
Origami Heart
My passion is a paper crane
or folded rose
or pleated star
And I see its beauty.
My passion is a paper plane
or folded box
or pleated boat
And I find its uses.
Through these creases we
fold in on ourselves
pleat to perfection
And take our hidden form.
You are lost in the concrete, precise and practical and punctual. You see only with your eyes, the architects of geometry, and are blind to our abstract figures, defined without variables or theorems. So to you
we are the flat ones.

Nicole DiStasio, 18, is a senior at Lower Moreland High School with a passion for reading and writing. She often daydreams too much for her own good (she says), which is useful when she's coming up with stories to write or just trying to get through a period of A.P. Physics.
