What happens to a venue when  G.O.O.D. Music's Charlie Heat curates a producer showcase?

It lights up.

On May 26, before a crowd of more than 200 at Coda, I sat down with the South Jersey native for the second installment of #FreeThinkers, a collaboration between RECPhilly and Philly.com, where we delve into creative minds of artists.

We talked Drumline, Kanye West and Madonna's work ethic, producer's block and that time Kanye told him to quit his job.

Heat stressed that there's "no such thing as too much hard work," the power of failure, paying it forward and minding your karma in the music industry.

Following the interview, there was a heated Producer Showcase competition among 20 area producers, hosted by Heat's House of 99 and judged by Heat, platinum producer CritaCal, and James Flynt, A &R representative of 300 Entertainment, took over Coda, with emotive producer AJ " Logic Da Beatman" Wallace from South Jersey winning a studio session with Heat, in addition to a prize package.
