SOLID GOLD.

Once again, legendary "Sound of Philadelphia" architects Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff have raised the bar: They've been elected to co-chair the board of directors of the Songwriters Hall of Fame, located in the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles.

The duo - responsible for 15 gold singles and 22 gold albums - were inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1995, and also received the Johnny Mercer Award for best songwriting team.

"As we have experienced, every hit record ever produced always started with us as great songwriters first," wrote Gamble.

"Songwriting is the very core of who we are creatively in the music industry. Therefore, this co-chairmanship position and honor means a lot to us as we honor and proudly support all our fellow songwriters everywhere."

Their hits include "I'm Gonna Make You Love Me," "Don't Leave Me This Way" and "Only the Strong Survive."

Bravo!

An old favorite

Robert Plant's new band, Robert Plant & the Sensational Space Shifters, killed it with the Pixies last night at the Mann (5201 Parkside Ave.).

The former Led Zeppelin lead singer and lyricist is touring with the release of his 10th solo album, "Lullaby and the Ceaseless Roar."

Described by critics as a work of renewal, this endeavor has given Plant musical resolution, he said. (Not to brag, but we met briefly in 2004. Swoon!)

Room for two

Philly native Renea Harrington is the lucky recipient of two special deliveries this summer. Yesterday she got a home makeover compliments of Wendy Williams and the folks from, "Win a Room in June." Harrington also just announced that she and her husband are expecting a new member of their family in July. Congrats!

Thanks to Williams, Harrington and her husband received a brand-new master-bedroom set. The lucky couple is no longer sleeping on a mattress on the floor in their Pennypack Park home.

Brunching with Mele

Towering new investment

Land developer Bart Blatstein, CEO of Tower Investments, is embarking on a new venture in Atlantic City.

When the Riviera Hotel and Casino closed its doors on the Las Vegas strip last month, six decades of memorabilia, signage and furniture were left homeless. That's when casino architect Paul Steelman stepped in, partnering with Blatstein to develop the Playground, now in its first phase of construction on the Boardwalk. They gathered up enough Las Vegas history to fill five tractor-trailers. Stage equipment, lighting, chairs, tables, flatware, and even the iconic "Riviera" sign have been driven cross-country to be erected at the new site.
