Sideshow: Wills and Kate reportedly suing over nude pix

Royal nudie shots are really proving to be a royal pain. Add Kate Middleton, also known as Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, to the ever-growing list of celebrities whose private bits are almost as famous as their public lives.

Royal nudie shots are really proving to be a royal pain. Add Kate Middleton, also known as Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, to the ever-growing list of celebrities whose private bits are almost as famous as their public lives.

Shortly after photos emerged of Prince Harry partying starkers in a Las Vegas hotel room, the French magazine Closer has published shots of Kate  vacationing, royally topless, at a remote Provence villa.

Photos of the possible future queen were sprawled across the front cover of the mag, showing Prince William uxoriously rubbing sunscreen on his naked wife. Awww.

William and Kate are filing a lawsuit against the French publication, according to the BBC. The media have hounded royalty before, but this is different, in a lot of ways. It's different even from the party-hardying Harry, snapped on cellphones by fellow partyers. This is professional work, and heretofore there's been an unspoken agreement about lines not to be crossed. This merrily flings that down and dances upon it.

Nonetheless, Closer editor-in-chief Lauren Pieau stands by her decision to print the pictures, arguing that the intimate scene was visible from the street. The U.K. edition of Closer says it was not offered the photos and would not have run them anyhow.

We at SideShow wonder: So why did the paparazzi snap the pictures in the first place? Were they hired by throne hopefuls down the line? This French beachside scandal won't subside anytime soon.

Fantasy break-in

In other nude news, one bold woman has gone where none have dared to go. She's pulled a stunt even daredevil Bam Margera couldn't handle. The Jackass star claims a naked lady broke into his house Thursday night and, um, committed indiscretions on his bedroom floor while he slept. Bam alleges that he woke up to the kiss of a 24-year-old nude lady. Good citizen, he called the cops pronto. The intruder dropped to the floor and . . . this is what Bam claims, anyway . . . began her self-centered indiscretions.

West Chester police told TMZ a lady was arrested nearby and now faces charges of stalking, burglary, and criminal trespass. C'mon, Bam - get a better home security system. Keep those naked ladies at bay, so they won't wander into your bedroom and make jackasses out of themselves.

Little tiny newsy bits

Amanda Bynes, heck on wheels, was barred from driving after L.A. traffic mishaps galore. Hours later, she was seen driving - and reports say she hit the bumper of a car. . . . Welllll! Eva Longoria, that cutie, has confirmed to Extra that she and N.Y. Jets QB-cutie Mark Sanchez are indeed dating. . . . Eva broke up with Penélope Cruz' bro Eduardo in June. . . . "I'm kind of a Snooki fan," Mitt Romney tells Kelly Ripa in an edition of Live! With Kelly and Michael to air Tuesday. Mitt and wife Ann were on together. In a biopic, Mitt says he'd want Gene Hackman as himself and Michelle Pfeiffer as Ann. . . . Y'know that guy, The Most Interesting Man in the World, in the Dos Equis ads? The actor, Jonathan Goldsmith, headlines a Barack Obama fund-raiser in Vermont next week. Stay thirsty, my friend.
