Sideshow: Troubles for Ev and Ocho

In a crime that will ripple through numerous reality shows, NFL player Chad Johnson (the receiver formerly known as Ochocinco) was arrested over the weekend on domestic battery charges after allegedly head-butting his wife, Evelyn Lozado.

) was arrested over the weekend on domestic battery charges after allegedly head-butting his wife,

Evelyn Lozado

.

According to the police report, the couple, who married in July, got into a heated argument after she found a receipt in his car for condoms.

Lozado had been a cast member on Basketball Wives by virtue of her long relationship with NBA player Antoine Walker.

Johnson, making a comeback with the Miami Dolphins, was featured last week in the first episode of this season's Hard Knocks on HBO.

In granting Johnson bail, the judge ordered that the couple have no contact, which could affect the shooting schedule for their own reality show, Ev and Ocho, due to debut on VH! on Sept. 3.

The Will Ferrell-Zach Galifianakis political comedy The Campaign was next, debuting with $27.4 million.

That pushed The Dark Knight Rises to third place with $19.5 million, giving the superhero film a three-week domestic total of $390.1 million.

Hope Springs, a romantic comedy for grownups starring Meryl Streep and Tommy Lee Jones, also bowed this weekend, finishing fourth with $15.6 million.

Leaving a soap

Ronn Moss

, who has played suave Ridge Forrester on CBS's

The Bold and the Beautiful

since the soap opera began in 1987, is leaving the show.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Moss is departing over a contract dispute. He will shoot his last episode of the daytime drama this week. It will air in September.

Moss, a remarkably well-preserved 60, could always go back to pop music. He topped the charts with the band Player in 1978 with their hit "Baby Come Back."
