Sideshow: Gaga indeed: Over 1M sold

Lady Gaga topped the million mark in first-week sales for her CD Born This Way, moving 1,108,000 copies. With that, the Mother Monster beat out Taylor Swift, the last pop star to top a mil when she moved 1,047,000 of Speak Now. But is Stefani Germanotta's

Lady Gaga topped the million mark in first-week sales for her CD Born This Way, moving 1,108,000 copies. With that, the Mother Monster beat out Taylor Swift, the last pop star to top a mil when she moved 1,047,000 of Speak Now. But is Stefani Germanotta's sales figure really as impressive as that of Wyomissing's own country-pop princess? Hardly. Born had an extra day to reach the magic number, since it came out on Monday, May 23, rather than on a Tuesday, when most new albums are released. And Gaga sold Born on Amazon.com for a mere 99 cents, in order to drive her numbers up. Amazon sold an estimated 440,000, or about two-fifths of the fashionista pop provocateur's total. Still, 1.108 mil's not shabby: It's the best first-week sales anybody's had since 50 Cent did 1.14 mil of The Massacre in 2005. Plus Gaga's moved more than a mil elsewhere in the world, so she's at two million-plus total already.

Goop princess goes tweet, tweet

She conquered the blogosphere with her lumpy, gloopy gravy of a site, goop.com. Now Gwyneth Paltrow is threatening to go Godzilla all over Twitter. The Country Strong twanger has joined the 140-character poetry machine and she's erected a new Facebook account! GP says she's posted an intro vid that has her declare, "I'm trying to join the 21st century." Before you could formulate a 140-character comeback, she had attained more than 30,000 tweeters on her followers list, and 49,000 folks "liked" her on Facebook. No wonder she irks me so: She's so popular.

News that is not happening

Did Hayden Panettiere and Ukrainian boxer Wladimir Klitschko break up? Yes.
Is Hayden rebounding 'round town with New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez? Sure! Why not? (The pint-sized Heroes thesp sure likes those beefy athletes.)
Oh, wait . . . no, Hayden and Mark aren't a number. "They're not dating at all," Anonymous Source tells People. "They're really just friends." What fun is that?
Meanwhile, the pornie pics of Blake Lively posted by Perez Hilton are not pornie pics of Blake Lively, says the Gossip Girl star's rep. The tastelessly seductive images purportedly were self-portraits shot by Blake in front of her bathroom mirror.
"Blake Lively has never taken nude photos of herself," Blake's rep says. (Never? What is she, a Communist?)

A love for all time

Uh-oh!!!! There are clear indications the Justin Timberlake-Jessica Biel love-partnership is back on track! Why else would JT issue such hyperbolic utterances??? Biel, he tells Vanity Fair, "is the single-handedly most significant person in my life." He adds, "In my 30 years, she is the most special person." But he insists his ex-gf is still totally ex.
Asked about marriage, JT went all German Post-Romantic philosophy with this dissertation about Being versus Becoming.
"I think the mistake is that people commit to who that person is right then and not the person they're going to become," he said. He ended with a Zen flourish: "That's the art of staying together, is changing together."
Meanwhile, Us Weekly claims JT and Ashley Olsen are stepping out. Busy guy!

Tidbits 'n' pieces

Patrick Dempsey tells Italian Vanity Fair that next season will be his last on ABC's Grey's Anatomy. Or did he? His rep says, "He was referring to the fact that his contract is up at the end of next season and we have no idea what the future holds." . . . Kim Kardashian tells USA Today she plans to move to Jersey after her wedding to New Jersey Nets dude Kris Humphries. The move, she says, may be a huge sacrifice, but she's willing to do it. "I think that's the kind of thing you have to do for your husband no matter where it will be," she says. Such nobility! . . . Ryan Seacrest's new TLC show, I Kid With Brad Garrett (It's a Kids Say the Darndest Things-type show), debuts June 28, says USA Today. . . . Novelist Tori Spelling has created a website just for hip moms. She say she'll use ediTORIal to share "ideas and inspiration for elevating everyday life. From crafts to entertaining, I love to be creative."

Perfect couples . . .

Would-be American monarchs Sarah Palin and Donald Trump shared a pizza in New York on Tuesday night. Before eating, the pair hung at Donald's 30,000-square-foot Fifth Ave. flat - probably to divide up the world on one of those giant, glass-topped tabletop maps James Bond bad guys use.
Justin Bieber, 17, will not disappoint his family no matter how famous he gets! The Canadian teen star brought his older, almost grown-up, 18-year-old gf Selena Gomez (kicking and screaming?) home to Toronto to meet his parents.
Selena, as far as we know, is still alive, so it must have gone well.

Smackdown! Nutter vs. Matthews

Philly's beloved Mayor Nutter will go head to head (or is it toe to toe?) for 9 rounds with homeboy La Salle College High School grad Chris Matthews live and in person from 5 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Education Nation Experience at the National Constitution Center.
The chat, to be taped as a segment on Hardball With Chris Matthews, will concern education and "current issues."
