Declaring Philly as the best "Sandwich City" in the universe, the mag proclaims, "There's no better place for lunch on a roll than Philly." (They're just figuring that one out now?)

Saveur will include write-ups of 11 hoagie houses and a plethora of sandwich recipes.

Phillies phashion show

What should Phillies ballgirls wear out there, on the field, when they're executing their duties?

Fourteen local sartorial artists, including Media's Rachel Marie Godwin, Jaime Melfi of Haddonfield, and Katie Todorow of Quakertown, have tried to answer that question as part of a fashion contest.

Members of the ballgirls squad will model their outfits at a fashion show hosted by the Phillies' Scott Palmer and Valerie Knight of WOGL (98.1 FM) Thursday from 5:30 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. at Macy's Center City, 13th and Market Streets.

The winning design will be adopted by the team.

Natalie still in town

She's still here. And still lovely. Oscar-winner Natalie Portman, who's in town with fiance Benjamin Millepied, was spotted Wednesday, doing a bit of window shopping. (Two days in a row!)

This time, the thesp, who was decked out in a green poncho, stopped by Art in the Age in Old City. She was with her dog, "a small, long-haired, kind of like one of those toy-looking dogs," says store manager Erin Legg. Portman checked out some quilts and blankets by Utility Canvas, but bought nothing. Pregnancy agrees with Portman, says Legg: "She looked very glowing. She was beautiful." Millepied is working with Pennsylvania Ballet on Building on Balanchine.

On Tuesday, Portman and her beloved were spotted having a quiet dinner at Zahav at the Society Hill Towers.

The sea's the possibility . . .

Raised in Deptford but schooled in rock-and-roll in Philly, singer-songwriter and artist Patti Smith will trek back to the region for a visit to an exhibition of work by photographer Robert Frank at Ursinus College on Tuesday.

Smith, who wrote a superb poem about Frank's work in 1971, will pay tribute to her late friend during a talk with Ursinus students and faculty as part of the campus discussion group "Ursinus Is Talking About."
