Eminem, Mars lead Grammy nominees

Eminem's "Recovery" was made complete Wednesday night as the Recording Academy nominated the resurgent rapper for 10 awards, including the biggest prizes: album, song, and record of the year.

Bruno Mars was not far behind with seven nominations, and Lady Antebellum, Jay-Z, and Lady Gaga all had six each.

Other key nominees included Cee Lo: His profane but profound "(Expletive) You" was nominated for record and song of the year.

Justin Bieber was among the nominees for best new artist.

Cee Lo's "(Expletive) You" was nominated for song of the year, along with Eminem's "Love the Way You Lie" (featuring Rihanna), Lady Antebellum's "Need You Now," Miranda Lambert's "The House That Built Me," and "Beg Steal Or Borrow" by Ray LaMontagne.

Cee Lo's "(Expletive) You" was an instant viral hit but had to be changed for radio to "Forget You."

For best new artist, Bieber, 16, was nominated along with the rapper Drake, indie artists Mumford & Sons, Florence & The Machine, and jazz artist Esperanza Spaulding.

Drake was eligible thanks to a change in requirements that allow previous nominees to be nominated for best new artist as long as they didn't win.

One name noticeably absent from the field was Ke$ha - even though she had a platinum debut and top hits.

Among the nominees for album of the year was Eminem's Recovery, the best-selling album of 2010, which marked a major comeback for the rapper.

Also nominated was Lady Antebellum's Need You Now - the second-best-selling album of the year. Lady Gaga was nominated for the second time in a row, this time for The Fame Monster; it was the sequel to her first CD, The Fame.

Katy Perry's Teenage Dream was also recognized, along with Arcade Fire's The Suburbs.

For record of the year, Eminem was nominated for "Love the Way You Lie," the hit also featuring Rihanna. Other-song-of-the-year nominees up for record of the year included Cee Lo's "(Expletive) You" and Lady Antebellum's "Need You Now." Also nominated was Jay-Z and Alicia Keys' anthem for New York, "Empire State of Mind"; and "Nothin' On You" by rapper B.o.B and featuring Bruno Mars.

Nominations were announced as part of the Grammy's hour-long special from Club Nokia in Los Angeles, aired live on CBS.

The Grammys will be awarded Sunday, Feb. 13, at Staples Center in Los Angeles and broadcast live on CBS.
