Drink

It is rare that a drink born of an international partnership tastes even remotely like its original inspiration. But a glass of Eroica is about the closest you'll find to sipping the spirit of German riesling poured from an American bottle. And this collaboration between Washington state's Chateau Ste. Michelle and Moselle legend Dr. Loosen is consistently stellar from year to year.

By many accounts, the 2006 bottling is one of the best yet, with a juicy and floral nose of nectarine that sails across the palate on crisp acidity and a long, pithy finish that holds this elegant wine from being cloyingly sweet.

The 2006 Eroica from Chateau Ste. Michelle and Dr. Loosen costs $21.99 a bottle in selected Pennsylvania state wine stores.
