Drew Smith named head of Friends Council of Education

Drew Smith, who has experience at both Quaker and charter schools, became the new executive director of the Friends Council on Education this month.

Drew Smith, who has experience at both Quaker and charter schools, became the new executive director of the Friends Council on Education this month.

Smith has served as head of Friends School Mullica Hill in New Jersey and chief executive of Russell Byers Charter School in Center City. He succeeds Irene McHenry, who retired from the council this summer.

Based in Center City, the Friends Council on Education is the national umbrella group for the 82 Quaker schools across the country. - Martha Woodall
