Eagles-Redskins: the pick

THE EAGLES' defense is trending so terribly, that league-leading snap count seems to have taken a huge toll on a group that was pretty decent the first half of the season. Now the Birds are going to play without Bennie Logan and probably without Byron Maxwell, against a potent team looking to clinch the NFC East.

Washington winning the division would be perfect because when the season started, that was the one team I was confident had no shot. The Redskins still haven't beaten a team with a winning record. But they won't have to do that Saturday, either.

Sam Bradford is going to have to win this for the Eagles; they're going to have to score more than two offensive touchdowns in regulation for the first time since the victory over the Saints, 10 games back.

Can the Eagles win? Sure. Kirk Cousins is much, much better at home than on the road - he hasn't thrown more than one touchdown pass in a road game all season, and nine of his 11 interceptions have come away from FedEx. It's really unlikely the Redskins' running game, with a 29th-ranked 3.7 yards per carry, is going to mimic Arizona's success last Sunday.

But this flock of Eagles does not feel like a playoff team to me. Other than Bradford and Fletcher Cox, not much is working consistently well right now.
