Opening ceremonies for a new employment center are set for Tuesday at 11 a.m. The PA CareerLink Northwest Center in the 5800 block of Germantown Avenue in Philadelphia integrates services for employers and job-seekers, with the idea of streamlining help for both no matter how they enter the system - online, in person or through a community agency.

The center combines employment services for people on welfare with help for other jobseekers or people changing careers. Employers can also use the center for initial screenings of potential employees.

Run by Philadelphia Works, the quasi-public agency that administers state and federal grants employment grants, the new center will offer expanded workshops, career fairs and job counseling.

Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry Secretary Kathy Manderino will attend the event along with other city and state officials.
