MASTERS OF SEX. 10 p.m. Sunday, Showtime.

The story of sex researchers William Masters and Virginia Johnson reaches one of its most controversial points with the initiation of their surrogacy program.

THE CIVIL WAR. 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, WHYY12.

With the Confederate flag so much in the news, the timing couldn't be better for the 25th anniversary rebroadcast of the Ken Burns classic - restored for high-def.

EMPIRE: SEASON 1 MARATHON. Noon Monday, FX.

Get ready for the Sept. 23 return of Fox's "Empire," starring Taraji P. Henson and Terrence Howard (pictured), with a 12-hour marathon.

SLIMER SATURDAY: GHOSTBUSTERS AND GHOSTBUSTERS II. 1 and 3 p.m. Saturday, SundanceTV.

Who you gonna call to mark the 30th anniversary of "Ghostbusters" (and promote the upcoming reboot)? I wouldn't have had Sundance on speed-dial for this, and its math is off - the original premiered in 1984 - but it would be nice to see the late Harold Ramis in action again.

MASTERPIECE MYSTERY: ARTHUR & GEORGE. Monday, PBS.org.

Martin Clunes ("Doc Martin") stars as Sir Arthur Conan Doyle in an adaptation of Julian Barnes' novel, based on an incident in the life of the Sherlock Holmes creator. WHYY12 isn't carrying the series, which premieres elsewhere on PBS stations on Sunday, until Oct. 1 (a Thursday). Philly viewers can see it online beginning Monday at PBS.org.
