Dan Gross | She stood up to Nicholson

NOT EVERY actress gets to share a scene with Jack Nicholson in her first movie. And even fewer give the screen legend a piece of their mind when he gets fresh.

in her first movie. And even fewer give the screen legend a piece of their mind when he gets fresh.

Bucks County's Amanda Lynch did both in her film debut in box-office hit "The Departed."

Lynch, 19, was 17 when she worked on the film and shared a scene with Nicholson in which his crime-boss character asks her deli-clerk character whether she's gotten her period yet. The line wasn't in the script and Ol' Jack caught Lynch off-guard with the line, which she didn't realize he had decided to ad-lib.

"I said, 'Excuse me, that's a little inappropriate,' " Lynch told us Friday. Nicholson, it turns out, was just trying to get a rise out of the young actress. And it worked.

Director Martin Scorcese liked the line and Lynch's reaction to it, so they re-shot the scene, only this time she stayed silent.

Lynch calls Scorcese "very sweet," and says he was the first person to introduce himself to her on the set. "He told me not to be nervous. It helped," she says.

The Council Rock South grad is also an alum of the John Robert Powers School of Modeling (1528 Spruce). Lynch recently worked on the films "August Rush" and "Universal Signs."

Sandra savors her salmon

Comedienne Sandra Bernhard was feted with a party at the Prime Rib (1701 Locust) Friday night. Her show "Everything Bad and Beautiful," played the Prince Music Theater (1412 Chestnut) this weekend. Bernhard and the Rebellious Jezebels performed songs from Christina Aguilera and Bob Dylan among others, mixed with her witty comedy.

Bernhard enjoyed her salmon on Friday enough that she had the dish delivered to the Prince on Saturday and Sunday nights.

McNabb on the mend in da club

Most people get turned away from 32° (16 S. 2nd) for wearing athletic shoes, and Donovan McNabb apologized Thursday for wearing sneakers due to his knee injury.

The Iggles QB returned with better footwear the following night, with wife Roxi; former teammates Hugh Douglas and Ike Reese, and a crew of teammates including Jevon Kearse, Lito Sheppard, Joselio Hanson, Matt McCoy and Todd Herremans. Many of the gang stayed in the VIP area until closing.

On Friday, McNabb and his crew also hit Glam (52 S. 2nd) down the street, where the QB rested his bum leg in a VIP area.

Out and about

Calypso cat Harry Belafonte, in a party of 14, dined Saturday in a private room at the excellent Crescent City (910 South) after Belafonte addressed Penn's Center for Africana Studies. He went for oysters and red beans, and the tables sipped red wines.

* Villanova basketball coach Jay Wright came into Ralph's (760 S. 9th) with a party of 20 on Saturday night. A number of diners there had been at the Pavilion where the Wildcats defeated Texas and Wright got a round of applause from the dining room.

* Former NBC-10 reporter Orien Reed dined Saturday at Saloon (750 S. 7th) along with her husband and another couple. Comcast SportsNet's Michael Barkann, Leslie Gudel and Dei Lynam were also in the house.
