Betts on DL

Red Sox centerfielder Mookie Betts' running, twisting play on Jose Abreu's drive in Tuesday night's 9-4 loss to the Chicago White Sox landed him in Boston's bullpen - and now on the seven-day disabled list.

Betts suffered a concussion on the play, in which he flipped over the fence and landed on his back, dropping the ball. It was ruled an out but reversed to a two-run homer after a video review.

Kershaw scratched

Los Angeles Dodgers star Clayton Kershaw was scratched from his Wednesday start against the Oakland Athletics because of hip soreness. The all-star will start Friday in the Freeway Series opener against the Los Angeles Angels, the Dodgers said.

Trout out again

Los Angeles Angels star Mike Trout was out of the lineup for a second straight game with an injured left wrist. An MRI revealed no structural damage. He is listed as day-to-day.
