Sideshow: Michael Jackson case goes to jury

Michael Jackson was an adult fully responsible for his own actions and died because of his own decisions, a lawyer for AEG Live said on Wednesday said in his closing argument in the Jackson family's negligence suit against the company.

Michael Jackson was an adult fully responsible for his own actions and died because of his own decisions, a lawyer for AEG Live said on Wednesday said in his closing argument in the Jackson family's negligence suit against the company.

MJ's family blame the company for hiring Conrad Murray, the physician who was convicted of involuntary manslaughter in 2011 for giving MJ an overdose of propofol, an anesthetic used in surgery.

AEG denies it hired Murray, maintaining that it was MJ who insisted Murray treat him.

Attorney Marvin Putnam said that if the company knew of MJ's drug abuse, it would never have partnered with him for his comeback tour.

"AEG would have never agreed to finance this tour if they knew Mr. Jackson was playing Russian roulette in his bedroom every night," said Putnam. MJ, he said, "made some bad choices that resulted in a horrible tragedy. You can't blame someone else for his bad choices. He was a grown man."

The Jackson family attorney made his closing on Tuesday. Now it's up to the jury to decide.
