Sideshow: Trump tripped up on China

Real estate mogul turned reality-TV star turned White House hopeful Donald Trump may have hoisted himself on his own vitriolic rhetoric. Trump is known (loved?) for his criticism of China's economic policy. He faults the communist economic power for undervaluing its currency and for taking manufacturing jobs from our shores. According to ABC News, the New York tycoon veritably went nuclear on Wednesday during a visit to New Hampshire. "China is raping this country," he told workers at Wilcox Industries, which makes tactical equipment for U.S. military forces.

Wish The Donald had checked into his own brand first. Salon.com's Justin Elliott reports that Trump's menswear line, the Donald J. Trump Signature Collection - which promises "the pinnacle of style and sophistication" and "the necessities to be boardroom ready all of the time" - is manufactured in China. (So read its labels!) Trump reps have yet to comment.

Demi Moore will exec-produce two yet-to-be-named scripted dramas and a talk show for Lifetime TV, says Variety. The talker, innovatively called The Conversation, will be hosted by the formidably sexy Brit photographer Amanda de Cadenet. "Demi is one of the most fascinating people in the world," raves Lifetime boss Nancy Dubuc. "She is both an icon and a modern woman who plays by her own rules."

Kate Middleton wants The News Media to leave her alone. That'd be Boston's Kate Middleton, inundated with inane requests to mimic The Royal Kate on-camera. "I'm not really interested in pretending I'm the other Kate," says Kate, 32, who works at a bicycle shop in Concord, Mass.

Cyclist Kate's Kate-a-tonic saga began in January, when Facebook suspended her account for using a fake name. Boston Kate's account was quickly reinstated, but her Facebook faceoff brought her to the attention of various news outlets.

Beantown Kate does have two things in common with Royal Kate: "We both have brown hair. . . .We're both easy on the eyes."

The city of Budapest has approved an initiative to name a small park after Elvis Presley to honor the mental, moral, and musical support the King gave Hungary's failed anti-Soviet uprising in 1956. On Jan. 6, 1957, Elvis sang the gospel standard "Peace in the Valley" on The Ed Sullivan Show to bring attention to the plight of Hungarians after that ill-fated revolution. 

Perpetually single Tinseltown sensation Jennifer Aniston is moving back East. The New York Daily News says the Friends star is about to buy two apartments in the West Village that she plans to convert into a duplex. Why so much space? Guess Jen wants to be prepared for having what her ex, Brad Pitt, already has - you know, a life partner and six healthy, bouncy kids.

Producer John Aglialoro, a Haddonfield resident, tells the Los Angeles Times he may abandon his life's work, to create - out of rarefied existential marble - a movie trilogy of Ayn Rand's quasi-Nietzschean epic, Atlas Shrugged, following the disastrous critical reception of Atlas Shrugged: Part 1. Poor guy: He spent 18 years and more than $20 mil of his own money on the first film, which has made only $3.1 mil since its April 15 release. Comcast-Spectacor CEO Ed Snider is an executive producer of the film.

She has that totally cool Eurotrash accent aigu in her name, but Khloé Kardashian still feels insecure around her sisters,   Kim and Kourtney.     "They are 5-foot and 5-foot-2," 5-foot-10 Khloé tells Us Weekly, "so I look massive next to them." Delran High School junior Katie Scarlett Foy will be one of a handful of students who will perform as part of the choir in Boheme Opera NJ's production of Puccini's Tosca Friday and Saturday at the College of New Jersey in Ewing (bohemeoperanj.com). Foy, 16, recommended to the professional company by her singing teacher, Kristin Hingstman, is an old hand when it comes to musical theater. But she's new to opera. "I've always been interested in the way they use their voices in opera," she says. "It's such a different style than theatrical musicals."
