THE SMOOTH sounds and good eats at Zanzibar Blue (Broad & Walnut) will soon be heard and tasted no more, the jazz club/restaurant confirmed yesterday.

Zanzibar chose not to renew its lease in that location, its spokeswoman, Melanie Johnson, told Daily News jazz writer Shaun Brady yesterday. She told Brady that the club will close April 29 and that it hopes to reopen elsewhere, but no plans are yet set.

Its owners, Robert and Benjamin Bynum, brought the club to Broad Street in 1995, after five years in a smaller spot around 11th & Pine. In the past several years the Bynums have opened and closed The Sound of Philadelphia inside Atlantic City's Tropicana, and recently moved their restaurant Warmdaddy's from Old City to South Philly.

At Red Square they ate caviar and toured the vodka locker, and the girls got massages and bought beauty products at the bluemercury spa. Neal and friends also played "Wheel of Fortune" slots in the casino, where the blonde babe also signed a few autographs for fans.

Brady earns big at Blavat show

U.S. Rep. Bob Brady received a rousing hand after taking the stage Sunday at Jerry Blavat's oldies spectacular at the Kimmel Center, where he accepted a $5,000 check from the Geator, and another $5,000 from Caroline Kimmel, wife of West Philly native Sidney Kimmel.

Kimmel accompanied her donation to Brady's mayoral campaign with a letter for Brady and wife Debra. Kimmel has known the former Debra Savarese for nearly 30 years. She was an Eagles cheerleader when they were known as the Liberty Belles and Caroline Kimmel's ex-husband, Leonard Tose, owned the Eagles.

Brady, a big oldies fan, is a regular at the Geator's Kimmel Center shows, usually sitting front row. Late Sunday, the Bradys joined Blavat for an after-party at Valanni (1229 Spruce), which was also attended by attorney Nino Tinari and his wife, Carol.

Out and about

CBS 3's Brandy Bell and fiance Jon Walmer, who owns Whisky Dix Saloon (421 N. 7th), celebrated their recent engagement on Saturday. The couple dined at Buddakan (325 Chestnut) with a few friends including Phillies outfielder Shane Victorino, then hit 32° (16 S. 2nd) with a larger group including Victorino and Ryan Howard. Also at 32° were filmmaker Tigre Hill and Rob Stuart of Evolve Strategies, a cause-related marketing firm.

Stuart and Howard briefly chatted about reform issues including global warming, but we're told it was hard for most people to keep Howard's attention. One person, a cute brunette in a low-cut black dress, was firmly planted in Howard's lap, as a handful of nearby women looked on with envy.

Mulroney's a family man

Dermot Mulroney skipped a fancy hotel for the comfort of his parents' house in Rosemont when the actor was in town recently to receive the Artistic Achievement Award at the Philadelphia Film Festival before a screening of an animated "Dante's Inferno," in which he provides the voice of a character.

Wing Bowl winner on the tube

Reigning Wing Bowl champion Joey Chestnut could be seen on on NBC's "Identity" Friday night. By process of elimination, the contestant correctly identified Chestnut as a competitive eater.

To prove it, Chestnut polished off a large plate of hot dogs.

Tom Joyner travels to Temple

Oh, oh, oh, it's the Tom Joyner Morning Show broadcasting live from 6 to 10 a.m. Friday from Temple's Liacouras Center. Admission is free, on a first-come basis.

R&B legend Teddy Pendergrass is to be part of Joyner's broadcast, which can be heard here on WRNB 107.9 FM.

Armand in the Morning mourned

Condolensces to the family of Armand Colianni, who was known as "Armand in the Morning" while a DJ on WPGR 1540 AM from 1990 to 1995. Colianni died on Thursday at his South Philly home. He was 57. *
