Changes are coming for Uber that address long-standing complaints from drivers, and are likely to put more money in their pockets.

Uber announced Tuesday it would make tipping available through its app immediately in Seattle, Minneapolis, and Houston, and in all cities by July. The lack of a tipping function through the app has long riled Uber drivers, particularly since Lyft, a competing ride hailing app, offers tipping. Uber also promised to give drivers a cancellation fee if a customer cancels a ride that is two minutes or less away from a pickup point and will charge customers who make a driver wait longer than two minutes.

Uber has faced a significant top management shake-up in recent months amid accusations of a toxic and sexist culture there. Founder Travis Kalanick has taken an indefinite leave of absence and other top executives have resigned. The changes in pay for drivers has been in the works for some time, though, Uber reported.
