In 2010, Jackie Ring and her partner were on the market for a new home that would be outside the city but could still provide easy access to Philadelphia. They were won over by a three-bedroom, nearly 4,000 square-foot home in Sewell for a variety of reasons.

"The quiet," Ring said. "The small, upscale, custom-built community on a private street."

The property also boasted opportunities for improvements, which Ring and her partner set to making once they moved in.

"[We] saw the green potential," she said.

They installed a full solar energy system which Ring said now provides a positive cash flow. They also added a high-efficiency, dual-zoned HVAC system.

The renovations gave the couple the opportunity to further customize the property, including new hardwood floors, custom cabinets and two new bathrooms. They also installed a new roof and new mechanicals throughout, as well as a private Generac generator.

"It is a fabulous ranch with a porte-cochere and not a cookie cutter McMansion," Ring said.

Among the features that give the home character are cedar ceilings the couple also installed during their renovations in the living room, kitchen and the octagonal breakfast room.

Ring called the newly improved master suite "impressive." It features dual walk-in closets along with an en-suite bath including a separate jetted tub and shower.

The home also includes a gym and swim spa that Ring said is a "great place to work out with views." She said future owners might also turn the room – which includes an in-ground indoor spa – into a lounge area.

Outside, the property sits on a plot large enough to require a 16-zone sprinkler system. The lawn features custom landscaping including a massive koi pond.

Ring said job opportunity outside the Philadelphia region has convinced the couple that now is the time to sell.

The property is currently listed by Meghan Klauder with Skye Michiels and Associates at Keller Williams for $629,900.
