On The Market: A quiet, contemporary Springfield Township home for $1.5M

Lennox and Alicia Black purchased their Montgomery County home in 1984. They were drawn to the contemporary design and the 200-year-old oak tree on the property, but there was work to be done.

"The property was undeveloped," Black said.

Without a front lawn at the entrance, he said it was "merely pavement."

The couple did quite a bit of work to the three-bedroom home in the ensuing decades.

In addition to converting a pool to a koi pond, they added gardens and flowering trees throughout the 2.15-acre lot. Making way for those improvements also required relocating garage doors.

Where the home and its studio and garage were once red, the couple repainted them all a color called "driftwood gray."

"Consequently, the gray blended quietly with the landscape and the adjacent park," Black said.

The main home features an oversized master suite with an en-suite bath including two separate water closets, a soaking tub, separate walk-in shower and a large dressing room.

The property also includes a cottage the couple refers to as "the studio", with its own kitchen, bath and private patio.

Black said the privacy and beauty of the property has been their favorite part of owning the home.

"We are surrounded by a park full of wildlife and birds that enchant us daily."

But he knows it is time to sell.

"We're moving back to Atlantic Canada at an advanced age," he said. "The 'Golden Years' for my wife and me."

The home is currently listed with Melodie Kahr at Kurfiss Sotheby's for $1.5 million.
