On The Market: A property flip that lasted 13 years in Wynnewood

When Mark Weinmann's mother bought a three-bedroom home in Wynnewood in 2003, the idea was for him to flip the property and sell it. Then he met Lauren Brennan in 2004.

"I was living in Charlotte and not loving southern life," Brennan said.

After six months of long-distance dating, Weinmann and Brennan moved into the home together and rented the property from his mother. By 2010, the couple was married, expecting their first child, and had purchased the home.

"What drew me to the home is my husband, and what drew my husband and his mother to the house was the potential," Brennan said.

The entire family has renovated the property throughout the years. Weinmann opened up the floor plan and renovated the kitchen before the couple wed. After they bought the property, they installed a new heating and central air system and finished the basement.

They also added a fence and brought in professional landscaping, which helps the property fit in against the adjacent Wynnewood Valley Park. Brennan said the area comes to life in autumn.

"The fall foliage there is spectacular," she said. "We open our blinds and have a beautiful backdrop in our living room."

The living room is Brennan's favorite part of the home, which also includes a finished basement downstairs and a roof deck upstairs.

"I love how it's the center of the house and all the activity," she said.

The neighborhood has been good to their family – which includes their first-grader and an 11-and-a-half-year-old boxer named Remy (after the street name, of course).

"Our neighborhood is filled with wonderful people, and we get to see them every day on their walk to school, to the park, with their dog, or on a stroll," Brennan said. "We will miss them the most."

About six months ago, Weinmann took a new job that makes his commute a stretch and has encouraged the couple to list the home for sale.

"His commute from our current location is far," Brennan said. "So we wanted to find a better spot for us to live and thrive."

The home is currently listed for $400,000 by Kevin Barmann at Keller Williams.
