When Leslie Fleisher bought her four-bedroom Society Hill home in 2007, the decision was an easy one.

"Not only is it within walking distance of anything I could ever need – including great restaurants and shops," she said, "But my brother and his family live a half a block away, as well as my cousins who are two doors over."

The property also included deeded parking in a gated lot and the home got lots of natural light by being on the corner.

While the property was a steal in terms of location, Fleisher said there were some renovations to be made. She replaced the washer and dryer with top-of-the-line appliances and fixed the chimney to bring life back to the fireplace. She also added hardwood flooring on the first floor and re-landscaped her patio and garden out back.

"I love the patio because it makes the house feel larger," she said.

She added outdoor furniture and a custom storage shed to hide tools and trashcans alike and make room for entertaining.

Upstairs off the master bedroom is even more outdoor space. A large balcony overlooks the Society Hill neighborhood.

"The view is amazing," she said. "I look out across the street at beautiful, historic 18th and early 19th century homes and can even see the fireworks at Penn's Landing."

About three years ago, she met Jim Holleran and his five grown children.

"Having four bedrooms is terrific for when they visit," Fleisher said.

Between their growing family (Holleran has a grandchild on the way) and their love of entertaining, Flesisher said it was time to make more room.

"Jim and I decided to buy a home in Malvern which has six bedrooms and more space for family and extended family," she said. A yard for their dogs and a pool made the deal even better.

"It's very hard to be leaving my bucolic oasis in this quiet little neighborhood," she said. "I simply love this neighborhood because it's very safe and it's the most residential neighborhood in Center City."

The home is currently listed with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Fox & Roach's Jody Dimitruk and Johanna Loke for $1,050,000. Taxes run $9,769 a year.
