By a 91-78 margin, 54 percent of voters approved a ballot measure establishing a seven-member commission to write a charter, which would be presented to voters at a later date for approval.
Seneca Resources Corp., a drilling company that wants to build a wastewater injection well, has mounted a legal challenge against a township ordinance banning the sites. Activists believe that home rule will give the township more power to control development.
